Different types of credit cards available these days?

There are many different types of credit cards available these days, from rewards based cards and interest free credit cards to balance transfer cards, charity credit cards, and football affiliated credit cards that enable credit card users to support their favourite football teams. However, whilst it may seem like a good idea for loyal fans to support their favourite teams with a football affiliated credit card – particularly for those planning to head off to Moscow for the Champions League Final – industry professionals are warning that these cards can prove costly to use abroad.

Consumers that want to support their favourite team with a football affiliated credit card should be mindful that the cost of using this type of credit card can really mount up according to officials from the Abbey. They found that the average foreign exchange fee on these football affiliated cards was around 2.75%, and in some cases could be as high as 3%. Abbey officials stated that it offers the only card at present that does not charge balance transfer, foreign exchange, or cash advance fees, which is its recently launched Zero card.

A senior official from the Abbey stated: “A credit card that affiliates with a football club may be a ‘nice to have’ but is not likely to benefit you as much financially than other cards available at the moment.” In fact, football fans that are planning to travel to Moscow for the big event are advised to start looking around for a cost effective credit card as early as possible in order to minimize in the fees that they are charged whilst using the credit card when they are abroad.
